What You Do

Dear June,

One day mama can turn this blog into a book for you, and while I start out with these grand notions, please know that it may not be something I actually will be able to follow through on.  However, we can always read this blog (if blogs are even around when you understand).  For our memories and archiving, here are the things you are doing and that I most remember..
You are 3 and 1/2 months old and you:
  • Love to smile and sometimes turn it into giggles
  • No matter how hard we try, we have to smile back at you because it just melts us
  • Went up a size in cloth diapers and now they are huge on you
  • Like it when mama dances and sings (as of this weekend you really liked Neil Diamond and Flo Rida)
  • Giggle when it’s breezy outside and it hits your face
  • Hate to get in your carseat – mostly just the arms part
  • Are getting your first teeth (on the bottom and one is poking through)
  • Refuse with all of your might to take a bottle, and are winning this battle without question
  • No longer need to be swaddled when you sleep – and sleep with your arms straight out at your sides
  • Have breath that smells like sweet cheese
  • Sleep in about 2 to 3-hour chunks (once it was 4 hours!)
  • Usually wake up slowly and almost always smile when you see us upon waking
  • Recently started noticing the animals and smile at Charli
  • Loathe “tummy time”
  • Have a big ‘ol bald spot from moving your head back and forth on your back
  • Love to look in mirrors and often smile at yourself
  • Can grasp things, but get frustrated when you can’t figure out how to let go
  • Like to take baths and were scared of bubble bath the first time
  • May roll over soon, but it may just be to stop doing tummy time
  • Have a face that I cannot help but kiss every time I see it
  • Have started using the Bumbo Seat and aren’t quite sure what this sitting up business is
  • Have multiple nicknames from me and daddy – Junebug, Yune, Baby June/Yune, The Bug, Juney Patooney, Juniper, Junipee Jones, Yuniper
  • Are wearing 6mo+ clothes and there really isn’t anything in the 3-month sizes that fit
  • Have great chubby “ham hock” legs that look incredible in leg warmers
  • Can make Mama cry at the drop of a hat, whether it’s that I need much more sleep than you do right now, or that I miss you so much when I’m away, or that I think about what you’re doing that I’m missing, or that I can’t believe how much I love you.

I hope that we’ll read this together someday, Junebug.

I love you,
Mama
