Dear Juney,
I know I have missed a few updates over these last few months, I’m sorry. Your second year involved a lot of changes in our lives – and a lot of changes for you! We’ve moved houses, switched jobs and have had some adjustments. You, however, have continued to make us laugh and smile all of the time!
You’ve grown into quite a voracious toddler and are full of life! Some highlights include, you:
- Have moved from plodding and carefully walking to all out running (mostly on your tiptoes).
- Are expanding your vocabulary all the time and are putting together some really great sentences.
- Have just started using pronouns for us (I, me, you).
- Still love milk more than anything else. No matter how much milk we give you, you will immediately down it all.
- Recently have started to eat a lot more, which I think could be a little growth spurt.
- Now have feet that have grown! For a while your feet stayed the same size, but you just recently went up a size and suddenly have shoes that don’t fit!
- Still like to wake up at the crack of dawn.
- Love the iPad, and really like to watch Cat in the Hat (especially when I only let you watch one episode).
- Love to read books and keep mama looking for more as you really like to repeat your favorites!
- Like to sing with mama before bed, and often still sing a little after she puts you in bed. I love hearing you sing “Blackbird” as I walk out of the room – nothing cuter.
- Are close to potty trained. You were pretty interested early, then went all out when you saw other kids at school going too. You’ve relapsed on and off, but are going strong with just a diaper at night.
- Still love to dance, even pushed your way to the front of the dance floor at Caleb and Megan’s wedding.
- Sometimes giggle and laugh so hard you snort and get hiccups.
- Like to be surprised and giggle with glee with anticipation when we hide.
- Give smooches and sometimes even really big ones to mama and tease papa because he has a scratchy face.
- Really don’t like to have clothes on, even making a naked appearance at mama’s company picnic and quite frequently in the house and yard.
- Like to “help” as much as you can with all kinds of tasks at home – cleaning, cooking, feeding the dogs, laundry, pouring whatever you can from container to container.
- Continue to teach me to trust my instincts.
- Sometimes don’t like being dropped off at daycare (especially after we moved). It is still really, really hard for mama. Some days harder than others. I thought by now it would be easier for me, and sometimes it is. I realize now that my friend who said, “it doesn’t get easier; you just learn how to cope better,” was right.
- Keep asserting your independence and wanting to “try it” yourself.
- Still love to be a goofball and have fun doing goofy stuff with me and papa.
- Are starting to like baths more, and really like to wash anybody and anything when you’re in the tub.
- Are truly amaze me everyday that we created you, and I still cry when I think about how much you have changed me and how much I love you.
Juney, you and mama like to be goofy and I never really thought it was that silly until Papa caught a video this weekend of us being not-so-on pitch together.
I love every one of your smooches and your sweet “in my face” Juney.
I love you baby June,
Mama
