I wanted to get a couple of recent June stories written down before we forgot. She is certainly hitting her stride with conversations and peppering us with endless questions and instructions daily. In fact there are many times when I wish I could just record her on the way to school because it is quite the conversation!
Bucket
I bought her a book recently that talks about “filling your bucket“and they happened to read the same book at school the following week. I had no idea, but it was the perfect storm to prompt June consistently telling us when we emptied her bucket. In fact one night, during the bedtime struggle, she told Geoff that, “Papa, when you say no you dump out my bucket. You ruined my life.”

Classic Gaga
Not long after Mabel was born we realized we needed to revamp our bedtime routine to streamline with June. We bought June a new special baby where the eyes closed. She usually makes up some great names for her babies and for some reason this one stuck – Gaga. So Baby Gaga is the one we always have with her to sleep and for other special occasions. One night Geoff put her down and about 5 minutes after he left her room we heard her screaming. We came in and she said we forgot to get Gaga. So we set out looking for her in the house. She was nowhere to be found, then I looked in her baby stroller in the yard and there was Gaga. I brought her into June’s room and she asked, “Where did you find her?!?” I said, “She was in your baby stroller in the yard.” And June, matter-of-factly said, “Classic Gaga.” Grabbed her from me and laid down to sleep. Classic Gaga indeed.

Sweet Smooches
Juney and I have some funny night time rituals, and I often tell her that I love to come back in and see how peaceful she is sleeping and that I will smooch her when she goes to sleep. I told her it’s one of my favorite things to do and she smiled. Then she said, so sweetly, “But mama, who will smooch you when you fall asleep?” What a sweetie.
A Few Words from June
I love you my sweet Juney.
