Life Happens…

…when you’re busy making plans.
We’ve been pretty full-o-changes over the last few weeks at our house.  A few updates:
  • Our house is on the market!  We’ve had a few showings and are trying our best to keep Tuney the Tornado from destroying the clean place in 2 seconds before we walk out the door.  Showing a house with a farm and a toddler is a great adventure.  Please keep your fingers (and possibly toes) crossed for a quick sell!
  • I have decided to leave my current job at the university and head to the for-profit sector.  It was a really difficult and emotional decision for me, but one I think will benefit us in the long-run. I will switch jobs at the end of March.
  • Buster lost a molar, which we found on the floor.  I found it as I was getting ready for work and left it on the counter for Geoff to see.  We were both equally disgusted and thankful June didn’t find it first.  The tooth fairy was busy that night so he got snuggles instead.
  • Charli’s hair is still growing back funky, but the hair that’s back is longer so he looks less mang-y.  He’s still happy, but has days where his arthritis is worse than others.
  • Jaguar is the liveliest 14-year-old cat and reminds us that she wants to eat more – regardless of time of day or if she just ate 3 minutes ago.
  • The Golden Girls’ egg production has taken a serious hit due to snow and shorter days.  They were afraid of the snow for a while, but now enjoy earlier daylight and we hope to have an early spring for more egg production.  We’ve been spoiled at the deliciousness of our free range eggs.
  • Our house has been sick for a while.  June (the cutest Petri dish on the block) continues to bring us wonderful “presents” from school and I tend to get the most face licks, and therefore the majority of the germs.  I have been sick since about November, so I finally made an appointment with an ENT.  It turns out they want to do sinus surgery and “while they’re in there” they said they wanted to take my tonsils out too.  Yes, for those of you that know I had them out in college.  As it turns out they can and did grow back.  Excellent.  Apparently having them out really helps with sickness as well as helps mitigate the recurrent sinus troubles.  I had the pleasure of finally getting some uncongested sleep this weekend and it was amazing how great I felt.  It was very apparent that I wasn’t getting quality sleep for a while now.  If results of the CT scan and other tests reveal that we should go ahead (March 7); I will have surgery March 13.
  • Geoff has had his share of the cold/cough over the last week and is finally feeling better.  He announced today that he is cooking a steak for dinner tonight to celebrate feeling better.
  • Some time in March/April, we are hoping to get in a trip to Iowa to see the crew. We miss you!

Papa and Juney at the zoo.

And the reason you all are here – Juney continues to make us laugh and is really picking up speed. She now:
  • is starting to level off in growth, which is a good sign.  She’s still in the 80+ percentiles for height and weight (and of course head circumference), and growing well!
  • loves to say “bye” and wave to everyone on her way out of school – sharing kisses all around
  • goes to bed a little easier (which we count on ending very soon)
  • is very curious about using her potty chair and loves the hand out toilet paper
  • has taken affinity to floor pooping; especially right next to the potty
  • can put on her socks by herself
  • is slowly mastering the steps while holding your hand (instead of the reverse crawl down)
  • seems to be less interested in food
  • has started to drink a little bit from a cup
  • is very interested in other kiddos and loves to watch and have fun with them
  • went to the zoo for the first time (thanks Grandma Julie and Grandpa Bob!)
  • has all of her teeth – the canine teeth have finally broken through
  • is obsessed with shoes and phones
  • continues to expand her vocabulary and still chatters away aaannnd…
  • FINALLY says Mama!!!
